Sometimes the 'professionals' aren't always right, you may not need a complete new fence replacement, broken things potentially can be fixed and will save you a lot of money as new timber isn't cheap these day's, compared to a few years ago. As long as the wood is still in good condition to be used again, it can be salvaged and put back up.

If you live in a windy area, then feather edge may not be for you, there is an alternative which is called 'hit and miss' fencing, it's constructed with 4x1 or 6x1 panels and designed to let the wind pass through the fence, thus taking the strain of the wind off the panel's and reducing pressure to the fence post's.
